There are many different kinds of toilet paper in this world: colorful toilet paper, scented toilet paper, toilet paper with designs or images printed on it. Of course, no matter how great a vision it was created with, all toilet paper inevitably meets the same fate.
However we recently came across one noble roll that, inscribed with the motivational words of Osamu Tezuka’s renowned manga character Black Jack, makes us feel like wiping ourselves with it would be nothing short of sacrilege.
Black Jack, a 1970s manga that became one of Tezuka’s most well-known, follows the story of rebellious medical prodigy Black Jack whose skill with the scalpel is matched only by his wit.
This Black Jack Collection of Famous Lines Toilet Paper is, as the name suggests, embroidered with famous one-liners and panels from the manga. The toilet paper is available for purchase online at the Osamu Tezuka Official Online Store at 200 Yen (US $2.50) a piece.
Each quote evokes emotional images of Doctor Black Jack fighting for what he believes in:
“You’re going to live! Now push yourself to live life to the fullest!”
After a patient died with his entire family in an accident the day after Dr. Black Jack had discharged him: “Even still, I’m going to keep helping people! I’m going to do it to keep on living myself!”
“There are children who have lived through suffering. I was also one of those children.”
Never before has sitting on the toilet filled us with such inspiration! Indeed, these words form a collection worthy of the late Osamu Tezuka’s timeless masterpiece – which is why it feels so profane to wipe ourselves with them.
