When you’re thirsty you can always rely on the vending machine to be there waiting for you with a selection of chilled beverages. With the summer sun beating down upon us day after day, we find ourselves seeing out the vending machine’s oasis even more.

However, we recently came across one vending machine in Akihabara, Tokyo that we were slightly reluctant to exchange our silver with: several of the drink selections were covered with a label reading “???”

According to our local Akihabara-expert, it seems that many people are willing to try their luck on this mysterious machine as it is almost always sold out.

Indeed, when we went to see the machine ourselves the 60 yen we put in quickly came back out after pushing the button. However when we tried the 90 yen option we were rewarded with a 500ml bottle of Gogo no Koucha Straight Tea!

Considering that a bottle this big usually goes for 150 yen at convenience stores, this machine might just be worth the gamble if you’re not too picky about your drink.
