Kaga-onsen-kyo is a collection of hot springs villages located in the southern part of Ishikawa prefecture known for its 1300 years of history, traditional handicrafts and, of course, beautiful Japanese ryokan and bath houses.

Recently, Kaga-onsen-kyo launched a new tourism campaign to promote the culturally-rich region by alluring visitors with the welcoming smiles of 100 lovely local ladies just waiting to “direct you to an unforgettable trip”.

The name of the campaign: Lady Kaga.

The centerpiece of the Lady Kaga campaign is the “Welcome to Kaga Spa resort” commercial, which features the charming young women lining up at the train station to greet travelers against a Lady Gaga-esque arrangement turned Japanese with shamisen and bamboo flute.

Those of you interested in taking the trip out to meet the ladies Kaga, the resort is easily reachable by train or bus from Osaka and Kyoto. For those who don’t want to stay the night, Kaga-onsen-kyo is located right between Kyoto and the Ishikawa capital of Kanazawa, making daytrips a viable option. Those who do stay in Kago for the night, however, may be lucky enough to see a geisha (not a gaga) walking the alleys in the evening.

Be sure to check the Kaga-Onsen-Kyo page on the Japan National Tourism Organization website for access information and more.
