While NERV, the fictional organization from popular anime franchise Evangelion, doesn’t rank high on our list of ideal working environments, we could probably be convinced to work something out after seeing the NERV edition Sharp SH-06D Android-series smartphone set to go on sale this June.

The SH-06D NERV will be offered by Japanese mobile carrier NTT Docomo to celebrate the release of the third installment of the Rebuild of Evangelion this fall, and follows the SH-06A NERV model released in 2009.

The phone was designed to look like a government-issued phone for NERV personnel and, in addition to the badass case design, comes loaded with original Eva-themed content and a user interface created under the complete supervision of the film’s production studio KHARA.

Under the hood, the device features a 1.2Ghz dual-core OMAP 4460 processor, 1GM of RAM, 8GB of storage and an 8 megapixel camera—the same specs at the vanilla Sharp SH-06D due out later this month.

Pricing and details have yet to be confirmed, but the phone is expected to be slightly more expensive than the standard SH-06D and sold in limited quantities.

Only a photo of the back panel of the phone has been published so far but, judging from how amazing the 2009 SH-06A NERV looked (check below), it’s probably safe to assume Docomo and Studio KHARA won’t disappoint.

If you want to get an up-close look at the phone, it will be on display at the NOTTV booth at the 2012 Anime Contents Expo held in Chiba from March 31 to April 1.
