Famous bathroom scale manufacturer Tanita is joining forces with Nippon Cultural Broadcasting to create a limited edition high grade bathroom scale featuring two of the most prolific voice actors in Japan, Daisuke Ono and Takayuki Kondo.

The machine itself isn’t so much a bathroom scale as it is a body composition meter allowing you to get a crystal clear idea of what’s going on under your hood.

Ono and Kondo each have lengthy resumes of voice work in anime, video games, movie dubbing, and more.  Kondo is the Japanese voice of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.  Ono’s voice work could be heard in Naruto, Bleach, and as the voice of Barney the Dinosaur in Japan.  Together the two are currently working on a radio program for Nippon Cultural Broadcasting called Dream Adventure Tiger & Dragon.

The scale is designed in a Tiger & Dragon motif with Ono and Kondo serving as the voice guidance for using it.  You might wonder why a scale needs voice guidance.  It’s because this is more than just a scale:  it can measure your weight, fat %, BMI, muscle mass, visceral fat level, basal metabolic rate, bone mass estimate, body age, and water retention.

Aside from telling you what to do, this machine is delightfully polite.  The voice talent politely asks you to “Step up please, m’lady.” (I’m assuming only if you’re a woman) and compliments you when you’ve earned it by saying “You’ve slimmed down.” The machine also comes with a bonus CD of the duo giving out various exercises endorsed by Tanita.

If this all sounds good then you better get online at Nippon Cultural Broadcasting’s A & G Shop or go to an Animate store to make a preorder, because there are only 1000 of these to be sold at a price of 13,000 yen (US$165)
