There’s nothing worse than sitting down to enjoy a big slice of your favorite cake, only to feel the unpleasant crunch of an egg shell between your teeth. Well, what if your entire cake was baked in an egg shell?
One of our reporters has cleverly devised a way to cook a cake inside an egg! She’s got a cute idea, but I prefer my cake eggshell-free, no matter where the eggshell ends up.
If you’d like to try your hand at making an egg cake, have a look at her recipe and commentary:
It’s obvious that cake is sweet and delicious. But there are so many sweets and pastries available nowadays, it’s hard to come up with something unique. However, by using ordinary things around the house and a little creativity, you can make an adorable sweet treat.
Pancake mix, a little food coloring, and an egg shell is all you need to create this one of a kind (and very cute!) dessert. It looked so easy, we just had to give it a try. Here’s the recipe:
Egg Cake
Makes 6 cakes
[Ingredients]
200g pancake mix
1 egg
150cc (about 3/4 cup) milk ***
food coloring, sprinkles, other cake decorations
***be sure to reference the pancake mix for proper portions of eggs and milk)

[Preparation]
1) Pierce a small hole in the top of the egg using a chopstick (or any pointy chopstick-like object). Be sure to thoroughly wash and dry the egg before continuing.

2) Prepare the pancake mix. If you would like to color the batter, add a small amount of food coloring and mix.
3) Carefully pour the batter into the egg. It’s easiest to use a small spoon and pour in the batter a little at a time.

* Be sure to leave enough room for the batter to expand. If you overfill the eggs, the expanding batter will cause the eggshells to crack.
4) Bake the eggs in a preheated oven at 170 degrees Celsius (340 degrees Fahrenheit) for 15 to 20 minutes.

There you have it, cake in an egg. It was actually easier to make than we thought!

If you like, you can decorate the outside of the egg for an even cuter appearance. These eggs remind us of Easter eggs or Fabergé eggs. All you need is a few stickers and ribbon to make these eggs really pop.

Carefully crack open the eggs to reveal a colorful and delicious surprise.
The egg cakes taste simply delicious. Since you’re using pancake mix, it’s hard to mess up the taste. For those who want a richer taste, try adding some melted butter to the batter before baking. Dried fruits give an added sweetness and texture.
All you have to do is mix and bake. Even small children can make this simple dessert. A sweet treat that’s also cute is the epitome of great dessert making!
