Perhaps irked by the fact that we humans are tweeting almost as much as they are, perhaps just victims of the information age like the rest of us, birds have taken to keyboards to share their thoughts through micro-blogging site Twitter. No word yet as to whether they’re just telling us what they had for lunch or the topics they’re trending…
A bird lover in Latvia has set up a twitter account just for his local birds, and let’s them do the typing, with the account having already attracted more than 2,000 followers.
So how, exactly, are the little feathered micro-bloggers sharing their thoughts with the world?
Using a special keyboard that’s wired to an indoor computer, and whose keys are coated with their favourite savoury treats, the birds are able to tap their “message” out while they eat.
So far, though, they seem to be struggling with the concept of syntax, and their vocabulary could do with a little beefing up, too, if we’re being ruthlessly critical…

But there again, perhaps they’re just toying with us. Taking a look at some of their later tweets, some birds appear to be laughing in our faces.

LOL indeed, cheeky-beak…
You can follow the birds’ real-life tweets on twitter under their account name @ir.zilite. Be sure to warn us if they look like they’re planning anything sinister…
