We’ve seen creepy Pokémon art before, but these statues seen at an animation festival in China are enough to give even a Haunter nightmares.

The monitories were on display earlier this month at the fifth annual Wenzhou International Animation Festival. The event is supposedly held to celebrate animated works from around the world, but the statues were so insulting that one visitor responded by using HM02 on his middle finger:

Ash and the gang were there as well.

Similar unholy effigies made in the likeness of characters from other popular series like Naruto and Avatar were also on display.

Okay, that last one is different, but the unnerving psychological effect is one in the same.
