It’s that time of year again! We’re sure most of you will be celebrating fatherhood on 16 June, and what father wouldn’t love a handmade portrait from their child? Although I did notice that after turning 25, the charm seemed to wear off.
Still let’s take a moment to check out what some kids in China think of their dads through the medium of crayon and pencil.
Ah… were off to a rocky start here. Either that’s the tyke’s grandmother or his dad is Tyler Perry.
Speaking of comedians, this next kid’s dad, who apparently is an American stand-up circa 1985, was clearly surprised by his bundle of joy conceived at the Chuckle Factory in Shanghai.
Some people think that LSD is a creative force in works of art, but I’m undecided.
Sure his face appears to be folding into the fifth dimension of kaleidoscope eyes but something about the use of color in that piece really speaks to me.
For comparison, acid-dad’s mellow blending is downright tranquil next to the harsh tones of tomato dad’s pic.
This one is getting closer to the real thing by drawing a portrait of modern China’s founding father. Although it could also be Kim Jong-un…
▼ Who’s got two thumbs and loves father’s day?
▼ Who’s got no thumbs and is happy to be out of the clink?
▼ “Good god dad, why are you naked with a creepy moustache?! And where’s your…”
▼ This one looks really good but the jig’s up. This is clearly the child’s best moe figure to draw and they just recycled it for this Father’s Day assignment. The dead give-away is the arrow pointing from it labelled “This is my Father.”
▼ This child may have heard mom mention their “baby-daddy” and got confused.
▼ “And, you know, the thing about a shark… he’s got lifeless eyes. Black eyes. Like a doll’s eyes. When he comes at ya, doesn’t seem to be living… until he bites ya, and those black eyes roll over white and then… ah then you hear that terrible high-pitched screamin’.”
▼ Social Services has been contacted…
▼ This one must be from my kid. They caught my arrogant/vacant stare and urine trail perfectly!
Finally, not only is this an excellent rendering of the child’s father but proof that China is working on a line of classy and sexy super-spies to rival the UK’s.
Of course China isn’t alone with unusual interpretations of parentally themed holidays. Feel free to peruse Japan’s Mother’s Day drawings and have a happy Father’s Day!
