A friend of mine once shared an image with me of the product recommendations section from Amazon.com, which showed a copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 paired with a bulk pack of adult daipers. Apart from shut-ins who would rather soil themselves than leave their military-based shooter and go to the bathroom, it’s hard to imagine why Amazon’s super computers would suggest that the two products were a perfect match.

An equally odd product pairing appearing on Amazon JP caught the attention of Japanese netizens earlier today, but rather than giving them a good chuckle it has quite freaked them out.

It would seem that, based on the number of people who purchase lengths of rope from the online retailer, enough of them also purchase a copy of The Complete Manual of Suicide for Amazon JP’s computers to suggest to fellow rope purchasers that they do the same.

“People who bought this item also bought this,” the page proudly proclaims while introducing the grim text. Well now that’s… depressing. I only came in for a bit of rope to go in my zombie apocalypse preparedness pack. Now I’m really bummed out!

Whether the book is in fact a peculiarly-titled self-help guide of some kind or simply an in-depth look at how to end one’s life is not clear, but honestly we’d rather Amazon JP suggested The Big Book of Kinky Knots the next time we add a length of rope to our virtual shopping basket.
