Red and golden leaves, chestnuts, apples…all the things that remind us of autumn! For those with a little patience and some artistic ability, you can even create origami versions of these seasonal favorites.   • Maple leaf

Japan is well known for its four seasons, but fall is arguably the most beautiful time of year with nearly every tree bursting with color. The most beloved of fall leaves is definitely the momiji or maple leaf. Make your own maple leaf here or make a different version with the how-to YouTube video below.

  • Chestnut

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire are more of a Western treat, but people in Japan enjoy the fall nuts boiled, steamed or mixed with rice. Even if you are allergic, you can have fun folding your own origami chestnut.

  • Grapes

Grapes ripen at the end of the summer, allowing us all to enjoy the sweet fruits in fall. Like most fruits in Japan, grapes can get pretty expensive, so save some money and watch the YouTube video below to learn how to make your own lovely bunch of grapes.
