When you stop and think about it, designing squirt guns is actually a pretty hard job. In an era where people have smartphones, video games, and the wonders of the Internet to keep them entertained, how do you get people to seriously consider shooting tiny sprays of tepid water at one another a viable entertainment option?

One idea is to go for a unique design, like the company that decided to model its guns after bears and leopards. That’s playful, unexpected, and eye-catching right? Unfortunately, guns and four-legged animals ordinarily have very different shapes, and in this case, trying to mash the two together meant the trigger ended up in a place you really shouldn’t touch a grizzly unless you’re looking to get mauled.

Twitter use Tanimeso stumbled across an ad for the toys, and somehow managed to stop giggling long enough to share the picture with his followers.

The first thing you might notice is that the faces are a little odd, as both the bear and predatory cat have a strange look to their eyes that seems tense and yearning. The second thing that sticks out though, and quite literally, is the trigger bulging out of the crotch.

Needless to say, the placement raised a few eyebrows on Twitter.

“Well, at least that’s not where the water squirts out.”
“And the bear’s is pink.”
“They seem so…powerful.”
“Those squirt guns are males.”
“That’s got to be intentional.”

We have to agree, there’s no way these made it all the way from design to production without anyone at the manufacturer noticing what they looked like. But hey, if kids today aren’t buying enough squirt guns, we guess the only way to keep the industry alive is to change them from children’s toys to adult ones.
