The “magical girl” anime trope is well-established in Japan. Usually, a high-school girl discovers she has magical powers and bands together with her classmates who also have magical powers in order to save the world from evil forces. But what if, instead of pretty magical girls, we had boys instead? Pretty, magical boys? Well, new series Binan Koukou Chikyuu Boueibu LOVE (Pretty High School Boys Save The World Club LOVE) is here to break down gender stereotypes (or just pander to the female love of pretty boys) with their brand-new anime show which launches in 2015 (and, oh, there’s a video game, too…)

As the official teaser trailer reveals, the boys are saved from their dull high school life (they’re all in an after-school club called “The Doing Nothing Club”) by a talking wombat who’s set to whip them into shape.

▼ As you can see, these boys are pretty. Really pretty!

▼ Oh, and they also seem to spend a lot of time splashing around in the bath together.

You can check out the trailer below:

If the anime isn’t enough for you, there’s also a mobile game for iPhone, iPod Touch and Android, as well as a web comic and novel which are all set for release early next year.

▼ These screenshots from the game’s website make us suspect it’s an otome dating sim game.

So, do you think these pretty boys have what it takes to compete against the likes of Sailor Moon and other magical girl series? Personally, we’re still on the fence, but we have to consider the factors here – does Sailor Moon have a wombat? No, she does not.
