As our seasoned reporter and full-time daddy Steven (of Master Blaster fame) recently reported, getting your cranky toddler to brush her teeth–without throwing a temper tantrum first–is tricky business. Likewise, getting her to go to bed so you can have those precious few hours of R&R at the end of the day can be just as much of a struggle (even when a disgruntled Samuel L. Jackson is called in).

But what if you were to hear that there was an exceedingly simple trick to put your kids down that only requires one tissue to work?

It seems that parents around the world can sympathize with Australian YouTuber Nathan Dailo, since a video he posted titled “How to put a baby to sleep in less than ONE MINUTE” has since gone viral after it was posted late last month. The baby in the video, named Seth, is only three months old, yet his parents manage to put him to sleep in an incredible 40 seconds with only one simple trick: by repeatedly brushing a soft tissue over his face.

See the magic for yourself:

▼Here’s a baby whose eyes are starting to droop…

▼Here’s a baby who’s trying in vain to fight the almighty power of the tissue…

▼…And here’s a sleeping baby who has very happy parents at this moment.

We were a bit skeptical that this trick would actually work for other babies, so we checked out some of the video’s YouTube comments. But to our surprise, it looks like many adults have hopped on the tissue bandwagon!

“You do know your video went viral right? Btw this worked for my baby 5 times already so thanks!”

“Unbelievable…  Tried it for the 1st time this morning and it immediately worked!  My kid’s going to sleep 23h and 50min a day from now on!”

“I’m gonna tell my neighbours right now with their damn crying baby during the middle of the night!”

“Where were you 20 years ago, when my son was small?”

“I don’t normally comment about babies, like ever, but that’s a gorgeous kid you have.”

Since I don’t have any toddlers in my immediate vicinity, I guess I’ll have to wait to try out the experiment. On a side note, I wonder if it’ll work on annoyingly vocal high school students, too…
