The Internet is full of stories, some true and some false. Some tales are so bizarre that we’re not sure which end of the spectrum they lie on, such as this one, in which a man in China allegedly met a girl, fell in love, and then got her to nearly double her body weight through massive amounts of food.
According to Japanese and Chinese sources, a man in Guangdong, China has apparently fattened up his girlfriend, encouraging her to eat as much as possible until she’d gained 40 kilograms (88 pounds). The woman, who apparently started at 50 kilograms, now weighs 90 kilos.
So, why did this boyfriend insist on her eating three meals plus snacks? According to Japanese and Chinese websites, he was trying to make sure that other men wouldn’t hit on her.
While there seem to be a lot of problems with this. There’s nothing wrong with heavy women, and being heavy doesn’t automatically make a woman unattractive. Plus, if you’re that worried about your partner getting hit on, maybe the problem is you.
The story does have an oddly romantic ending, though. They’re no longer just dating, because the boyfriend proposed! And when he popped the question, they were surrounded by chefs from the restaurants where they apparently often ate, like magical food gnomes.
▼ Gnomes wearing…Baymax T-shirts and hats?
Now, we have to say, we’re a bit skeptical about this story. There’s not any one thing that we can point to and say, “Nope! This is shenanigans!” Still, something just feels off about the whole thing. On the other hand, there are a lot of photos, so either someone has gone to a lot of trouble to create this hoax or it’s actually true.
▼ But the video camera here has us wondering if this is a reality TV show.
▼ She said yes!
▼ Congratulations to the happy couple!
While we are a bit worried about the medical implications of nearly doubling your body weight, we do have to say that they’re a cute couple and we wish them the best. As long as they’re happy, we’re happy for them, even if we’re still not sure we should believe this story.
What do you think, dear readers? Do you think this is true or is there something else going on?
