Last year, “exciting bookstore” Village Vanguard brought us Dragon Quest-inspired blue Slime Curry. Despite its decidedly unappealing appearance, as we found out the taste wasn’t half bad. Quite the opposite really, as our brave writer who sampled the gloppy, blue, boil-in-the-pouch curry ate it right up.

But just in case you haven’t quite had enough foul-looking food action, Village Vanguard has cooked up a new green version of its Slime Curry, this time in “Antidote Flavor“!

Both the green and blue Slime Curry look like unappetizing, oddly colored regurgitated foodstuffs, but as our writer found out previously when she taste-tested the blue curry for herself, it was just as good, if not better, than any other ready-made curry you can find on the market.

Taking a look at the ingredients, aside from the added artificial coloring, the Slime Curry is indeed no different from the typical Japanese curry you can find in grocery stores. Ingredients include onions, potatoes, garlic, and chicken, and the curry is flavored with coconut milk and a number of other spices.

This time around, the box claims this to be “Antidote Flavor”, but as I haven’t personally ever had an antidote, I can’t vouch for what exactly that tastes like. The curry is available through Village Vanguard’s online store (Japanese only, sorry) for those of you brave enough to give it a try. At 1,080 yen (US$8.74) for a 180g serving, however, it’s not exactly a cheap meal.

If you do give it a whirl, be sure to let us know what you think!
