As a child I was always taught to believe that having your head in the clouds was a bad thing; that it was important to keep your head on your shoulders and your feet on the ground to be successful. But this man from Henan Province in China has blown that way of thinking out of the window with his magical cloud-making machine, which has been drawing in a continuous stream of wowed onlookers, and in turn some big money as well!

Have you ever looked up at the clouds and wondered what it would be like to lie on them and roll around? Imagine how fluffy they’d be! Of course, then comes the crushing realization that clouds are really nothing but droplets of water and ice crystals, so wouldn’t feel like fluffy mounds of cotton at all…

While he may not be making clouds of cotton, this man from Henan is making foam clouds a little more reminiscent of what many of us envisioned them to be like as a child. Perhaps that’s part of the appeal of his helium-and-foam cloud machine, and why so many people have become fascinated with this creation.

This clever entrepreneur reportedly makes around 10,000 yuan (US$1,565) a day renting out his machine. It’s hardly surprising – how many of you are wishing you could make clouds like these for yourself right now?

The mechanics behind the machine are simple enough: helium combines with foam, causing a cloud of bubbles that can float high into the air. Sure, the science behind this may not be complicated, but to a kid it is simply magic, and that’s good enough for us!
