The most recent episode of Nintendo Direct included some exciting news for fans of the soon-to-be 30-year-old Legend of Zelda video game series. In the broadcast, Nintendo executives announced that a high-definition version of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess would be released for the Wii U on March 4, 2016 internationally, and on March 10 in Japan.

The original Twilight Princess game was released for the Nintendo Wii and GameCube in 2006 and was met with universal acclaim, so a remake 10 years down the road has gamers around the world buzzing in anticipation! The updated version of this Zelda classic is currently being developed in conjunction with Australia’s Tantalus Media, and it promises to pack a nostalgic punch along with its updated graphics in Zelda‘s 30th anniversary celebration year. Take a moment to watch this promotional clip announcing the release of the game early next year:

Fans will also be pleased to know that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD will be compatible with Nintendo’s amiibo figurines, so players will be able to transfer data between different games including the currently unnamed upcoming Wii U Zelda game set to hit stores sometime next year.

In fact, in celebration of the HD remake, Nintendo also announced the production of a brand-new Twilight Princess amiibo figurine in the form of Midna astride Wolf Link:
