To celebrate its 20th anniversary this year, the Cardcaptor Sakura franchise is getting a new manga, including a bunch of other tie-in goodies and events this year you don’t want to miss!

Not only is Kodansha re-releasing volumes of the original Cardcaptor Sakura manga, same as with Nodame Cantabile, it’s also getting some new material.

The news comes as an exciting follow-up the announcement of a 20th Anniversary illustration book, which is scheduled for release on March 23, followed by television network NHK’s plans to re-broadcast episodes of the original anime series every Wednesday on their BS Premium channel beginning April 6 at 6:30 p.m.

Additionally Cardcaptor Sakura will be collaborating with Animate Cafe to bring the series to eight cafes starting in Tokyo and Fukuoka next month before hopping to other locations around the country until looping back to Tokyo in October.

▼ The cafe will operate in Ikebukuro (Tokyo) and Fukuoka (April 1-to May 29), Sendai and Okayama (June 1-July 29), Osaka (August 1-September 28), Kyoto (September 1-September 28), and Ikebukuro and Shinjuku (Tokyo) (October 1 – October 30).

Early reservations have already begun for the first set of Tokyo and Fukuoka dates, which you can find more information about here. Each ticket costs 2,000 yen (US$18) in addition to your order, and comes with a limited edition Cardcaptor Sakura illustration or mug.

But for those who want to get their hands on some of the latest Cardcaptor Sakura merch right now, check out these non-prescription Sakura Kinomoto-style glasses by Movic that went on sale just last week.

Movic is the same company that brought us the Cardcaptor Sakura apron we reported on before, and they’ve also got plans to release an adorable set of mini Sakura, Tomoyo, and Kero-chan figures in May, which you can pre-order now.

SuperGroupies, the company behind the adorable Cardcaptor Sakura shoes from early last year, also recently collaborated with young women’s fashion brand earth music&ecology to bring Japanese clothing fashionistas and fans a cute, girly spring line of Clow Card and character-inspired outfits that sold out quickly after it was released.
