Just think of all the time you’ll save with delicious dessert multi-tasking!

When it comes to eating ice cream, I’m more of a cup than a cone kind of guy. I’ll make exceptions sometimes, but having my ice cream in a cup saves me the trouble of maintaining an eating pace that stays in the sweet spot between “so slow it melts onto my hand” and “so fast I get a brain freeze.”

Besides, the main attraction in an ice cream cone is the ice cream, right? Sure, putting it into an edible container is kind of convenient, but flavor-wise, the cone gets so overpowered that it might as well not even be there.

But that imbalance won’t be a problem with Krispy Kreme Japan’s new Cool Krispy Sandwich, which instead of scooping the ice cream into a cone nestles it inside a sliced doughnut.

If you’ve made up your mind to eat your ice cream and doughnut all in one bite, obviously decisiveness isn’t your strongpoint, so sandwiched between the two halves of the chain’s signature Original Glazed doughnut you’ll find not one, but two types of ice cream. In addition to a scoop of vanilla, there’s also raspberry, made with real fruit and juice to be extra flavorful. There’s also an assortment of frozen berries, because the fruit food group is almost as important for proper nutrition as the doughnut group.

The Cool Krispy Sandwich goes on sale April 13 at Krispy Kreme location across Japan and is priced at 420 yen (US$3.75).
