The new summer offerings from Krispy Kreme Japan are not only mouth-watering, but also eye-popping as well!

Yes, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts have always delighted us with beautiful, tasty-looking seasonal offerings, and this summer is no exception.

This year, their summer doughnuts are looking particularly fruity in watermelon and lemon flavors, with striking visuals to match!

Here’s the Watermelon doughnut (230 yen [US$2.17]), made with bright red jelly containing plenty of watermelon juice and topped with “chocolate chip” seeds. As a finishing touch, they’ve added green, watermelon-flavored chocolate on top to represent the fruit’s outer skin. It’s like they actually turned a watermelon into a doughnut!

The Lemon Glazed flavor (also 230 yen) is covered with lemon-flavored icing and topped it off with a slice of lemon. The light, sour tang of lemon should be perfect for the summer.

In addition, there are two other fruity doughnut flavors that are available in the seasonal “Ring Ring Summer Dozen” set.

One is the Old-fashioned Banana doughnut (210 yen) made from dough containing banana sauce with actual banana pieces and decorated with a dusting of powdered sugar on top. It should taste like a simple yet wholesome banana cake infused with the fruit’s natural flavor and sweetness.

The other flavor is the Strawberry Chocolate Sprinkle (190 yen), which consists of their Original Glazed® doughnut covered with strawberry chocolate topped with colorful candy sprinkles. The sweet and sour flavor of strawberry and the crunchy texture of the sprinkles should make for a delightful combination.

And here’s the “Ring Ring Summer Dozen” set (2,000 yen), which includes two Watermelon, two Lemon Glazed, two Old-fashioned Banana, two Strawberry Chocolate Sprinkle and four  Original Glazed® doughnuts. The colorful assortment should brighten any gathering!

All the items above, except for the Strawberry Chocolate Sprinkle doughnut, which is a regular item on their menu, are available until July 19. We certainly think the watermelon and lemon doughnuts look stunning, and if you’re in Japan in the next month, the summer offerings should make for some fun and visually entertaining treats!
