Urgent news for noodle lovers!

If you’re a ramen fan who’s dining out in Japan, one of the phrases you’ll want to remember is “kaidama.” Kaidama is an extra serving of noodles that you can request once you’ve polished off your initial order, so if you tell the chef “Kaidama kudasai” (“Kaidama, please”), he’ll toss the new batch of noodles into your bowl for you to enjoy with your leftover broth.

Of course, kaidama aren’t free. Well, at least not usually. But for just two days, extremely popular ramen chain Ippudo will be offering unlimited kaidama, free of charge, at its location in the Center Gai section of Tokyos Shibuya neighborhood.

In other words, it’s offering all-you-can-eat ramen!

To celebrate its recently completed renovation, the Center Gai Ippudo Shiromaru Base will give you as many kaidama as you want at no additional charge. The chain’s signature dish, the above-pictured Shiromaru, is a classic Fukushima-style tonkotsu (pork stock) ramen that’s almost unfairly delicious and priced at 700 yen (US$6.80). You can also spice things up with the 770-yen Akamaru, which adds a piquant paste to the broth, or chicken out with the 790-yen Nakasu Black, which uses chicken stock instead of pork and adds soy to the mix for an elegant flavor.

The all-you-can-eat ramen will be offered all day on October 24 and 25, and to take advantage of the deal you’ll need to display the coupon found here on Ippudo’s Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram accounts. Given Ippudo’s popularity, the line of customers waiting to get in is sure to be long, so you might be very hungry by the time you get a seat, but at least you can be absolutely certain that when you’ll leave the restaurant, you’ll be completely full.
