This sure sounds like a sweet way to catch Pokémon!

Pokémon fans will be happy to hear that Japanese toy maker Bandai has recently come out with a new addition to their “Create-Your-Own Snack” (Tsukuru Oyatsu) line of treats — the “Create Your Own Snack: Pokémon Gotta Catch ‘Em All Chocolate Maker” (Tsukuru Oyatsu Pokémon Getto Daze Choco Maker).

The kit actually lets you make your very own chocolate Poké Ball as well as other Pokémon from the Pokémon Sun and Moon anime series currently airing on Japanese TV.

The mold for making the chocolates comes in one of three designs, one with the Pikachu A version and Rowlet (Mokuroh), another with the Pikachu B version and Litten (Nyabby) and a third with the Pikachu C version and Popplio (Ashimari).

To create the three-dimensional chocolates, you microwave and melt the chocolate included in the kit, pour it into the mold and then cool it in the refrigerator. After that, you place the chocolate Pokémon inside the chocolate Poké Ball along with the biscuit crumbles that also come with the package, then seal the Ball with left-over chocolate, and you have your very own chocolate Pokémon inside a chocolate Poké Ball!  The product is said to require intermediate to advanced levels of skill among the “Create-Your-Own Snack” line of items.

▼ For those of us requiring a little extra guidance, Bandai also has a video showing how to make the chocolates.

The “Create Your Own Snack: Pokémon Gotta Catch ‘Em All Chocolate Maker” is now available at supermarkets and convenience stores across Japan at a price of 250 yen (US$2.25) each.  If you’re visiting Japan, this could be a delightful and affordable souvenir for anyone who’s a Pokémon fan, and while the item is designed to be a creative snack for children, we have a feeling that grown-ups will have just as much fun making magical chocolate monsters!
