Love him or hate him, Piko Taro, the Japanese singer and performer of the viral hit Pen-Pineappe-Apple-Pen, is not going away anytime soon.
After tie-ups with Cookie Monster and Elmo, and even Yuriko Koike, the governor of Tokyo, Piko Taro is back with another version of PPAP, and this time it contains a puzzle that requires a bit of brainpower to solve.

The Pen-Pineapple mystery is all part of a new promotion for a worldwide puzzle-solving event called LAYTON’S MYSTERY JOURNEY: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy. Produced with the help of real escape game specialist SCRAP, the event challenges users to solve a total of 50 puzzles on the Internet and in locations in 10 countries, including Japan, Australia, the U.S., the U.K. and South Korea.
Piko Taro’s quiz is kicking things off as the first puzzle, so if you’ve solved it, you probably have what it takes to continue on the worldwide adventure, which runs from 20 June to 21 September.
As the seventh main entry in the popular Professor Layton series, the smartphone version of Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy will be released around the world on 20 July, with the Nintendo 3DS version released in Japan on the same date, followed by a release in North America and Europe later in the year.
