Usually when someone wants to wear a dead thing’s skin, we call the police or at least make a really creepy movie. But if that someone is an otter, it’s suddenly super cute.
Game developer Creepy Cute is living up to its name by releasing the game Love at First Sight, a visual novel where you only have eyes for one girl: Sachi Usui. She’s a one-eyed high school girl who straddles the line between terrifying and adorable so perfectly that it’s scary.
Depicting the horrors of hell through art is a tradition in Buddhism that goes back at least 1,000 years in Japan. By depicting the suffering in store for sinners, the artworks were supposed to scare people onto the straight and narrow.
But if that’s what this late 19th century scroll was for, it might have had the opposite effect. We’ve never seen such a cute hellscape!
We can’t stop watching this video of this kitty in the tub. There’s something so hypnotic about it.
Maybe it’s the blissful yet still somewhat ambivalent expression on the face of the cat. Maybe it’s the little hand towel balanced on its head like it’s an old Japanese dude in a hot spring. Maybe it’s the yellow bath water (what’s in it, custard?). We have no idea, but we’ve watched it approximately a thousand times in a row and can’t decide what’s going through kitty’s mind.
Ever heard of SNH48, AKB48’s second sister group outside of Japan? Based in Shanghai, China, the idol unit has been active since 2012, releasing a total of eight singles to date. These singles are all Chinese-language covers of previous AKB48 singles, including their latest release on May 15–the Chinese version of “Manatsu no Sounds Good!” (盛夏好声音).
Now, I’m not someone easily swayed by the cutesy “charms” of idol singers, but a female writer on our Japanese sister site recently wrote a piece expressing her opinion that SNH48 could possibly be–dare I write it–even cuter than the veritable goddesses of the original AKB48.
Take a moment to watch their latest music video and decide who you think is the cutest!
As stated directly on our Facebook page, RocketNews24 strives to bring you the very best of “News, entertainment and wonderfully weird stuff from Japan and Asia. Oh, and cats. Obviously.”
We take those words very seriously, and what better way to live up to them than by sharing a post about cats IN Japan? Everyone, it’s time for another round of your favorite silly kitty Maru, starring in “Maru’s new walking style!”
Whenever somebody asks me whether I’m a “cat person” or a “dog person”, I feel slightly sad because it feels as if cats and dogs are the only domestic pets anyone really cares about. And things get even sadder when I answer that I’m a “rabbit person”, and the person who asked the question simply goes “oh yeah, rabbits are really cute”, and the conversation dies.
Well, sorry if rabbits aren’t “mainstream” enough for you, but this fluffy bunny with ears like an angel’s wings is stealing the spotlight today! Cats and dogs, make way for Wally the English Angora!
What would the Internet be without cats? Yes, I am a dog-lover too, and our canine companions have their own rightful place in the worldwide web, but it is, without a doubt, the cat’s kingdom. This week’s new rising feline star is Tororo, an adorable white and orange Scottish-fold cat from Japan, who is doing an excellent job of imitating the stretchy characteristics of his namesake.
Time for your daily dose of cute! Continuing with our current trend of sleepy animals (first, we had Cocon the lazy Shiba inu, followed by Nike the sleepy pooping cat), here’s Nappa the yawning hamster! We’ve got all the cutest pictures and videos of Nappa’s adorable antics straight from his official Twitter account!
Considering how much easier it is to get a dogs to play Fetch than cats, you might assume that a pet pooch gives you more ample opportunities to play together than a kitty companion. However, as one Japanese Twitter user has reminded us, there’s one game, or maybe we should call it a competitive sport, that any cat would be thrilled to play with its owner.
Similar to Fetch, it requires a stick to play. Well, actually two sticks, plus just one other item.
A Japanese Twitter user was in for a gruesome surprise on Thursday when, while out getting some fresh air, he stumbled across an exceedingly unfortunate cat that appeared to have been heinously murdered in the streets (perhaps by some Bad Rats).
The doomed feline was lying on its side near what appears to be a parking lot, with copious amounts of “blood spatter” forming a grisly trail to the poor kitty.
But, there’s more to this crime scene than meets the eye.
Here at RocketNews24 we like to think of ourselves as experts in taste and style (hey, stop laughing!). We like to add little personal touches to our cutlery drawers and drinks cabinets (gotta love those panty glasses!). So you can imagine how excited we were when we found out about these little hamsters you can clip onto the edge of your glass or mug to up the cuteness factor of everything you drink by 150%.
We’ve seen a lot of adorable cats here on RocketNews24. There’s cats politely waiting outside convenience stores, cats being stored on shelves, and a whole island of cats just waiting for you to come feed them and scratch their heads.
If you’re like us though and your hunger for cute cat pic simply cannot be satiated, then take a look at Nike, the adorably sleepy Japanese cat who’s been paws-itively blowing up Japanese Twitter recently. Side effects of looking at Nike’s pictures may include pro-cat-stination of work you should be doing, feline like you’re going to laugh, and wanting to take a catnap of your own.
Waking up in the morning sucks, especially if you’ve got a long commute to work or school ahead of you (or if you’re just chronically lazy). But what if you’re a pampered pooch whose only obligation is to be a family pet? How hard could mornings possibly be for a dog?
If you’re Cocon the Shiba Inu, the answer is very! Check out these cute snaps of Cocon saying a big fat “nope” to mornings in general, and getting out of bed in particular!
Have you heard of “gogatsu-byou“? Also known as “May Sickness” this is a Japanese term used to describe the particular malaise that descends upon many people in May, after the excitement of the new school year and hiring period in April.
But what better way to combat a case of the blues than with adorable kitten videos? If you’re feeling low, we reckon these capering Munchkin kittens will cure what ails you!
If you’re the doting owner of a dog or cat, odds are you think it feels pretty great when your animal companion saunters over for a snuggle. Still, there are times when you want to keep your hands free for other activities, like reading a book or surfing the Internet, and don’t want to have to worry about knocking your pet off your lap every time you shift in your seat or change your posture.
So even if your animal-loving heart only belongs to your kitty or pooch, consider taking a page from the kangaroo playbook with this hoodie that features an oversized pocket on the front perfect for letting your cat or dog cuddle up against you.
Been having a rough week? Need a little pick-me-up to get you through to the weekend? How about some cute kitten pictures? And not pictures of just any little kitten. No no; this one is quite possibly the world’s most adorable kitten ever, sure to pull your heartstrings with its world’s-most-adorable kitten paws.
Ever wondered what your favourite sushi would look like as a cute girl? Nope, me neither, but the results are still pretty impressive.
Manga artist Harikamo has produced these gorgeous, delicate illustrations of anthropomorphised sushi. We never knew salmon roe could be so adorable!
Daruma are a kind of roly-poly wishing doll in Japanese Buddhism. You draw one eye in while making a wish, and then fill in the other when your wish comes true. Given their sweet purpose and blob-like shape, traditional daruma are already pretty charming, but a woodcarving shop in Kagawa Prefecture has found a pop makeover makes them even more attractive, so much so that there is a 3-year waiting list to get one!
