Lush greenery, magical flying machines and huge, squelching monsters, overlaid with a soaring orchestral soundtrack. This animated short makes no pretence about its strongest influence – it’s a beautiful homage to the works of Hayao Miyazaki.
The film even features a mysterious-looking gentleman who looks suspiciously like Miyazaki himself. But this short, which has been gaining attention online in Japan and abroad, was not made by a team of professional animators, but a young film student in Paris.
It won’t be much longer now until the newest Dragon Ball film, Resurrection ‘F,’ opens in theaters across Japan on April 18. That means it’s high time for the advertising to begin. On March 24 the first TV spot aired, giving us a glimpse of what’s to come and a little more fighting and characters than shown in the previous trailer. You can see for yourself in the video below, but rest assured that it’s chock-full of all the tea sipping and long discussions about the feelings that the series is famous for.

Apple’s iTunes service released a trailer for the English dub of Studio Ghibli and Isao Takahata‘s The Tale of the Princess Kaguya on Monday.
The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) will host the North American premiere Isao Takahata‘s The Tale of the Princess Kaguya and director Mami Sunada’s The Kingdom Of Dreams And Madness documentary about Studio Ghibli next month. Princess Kaguya will premiere with English subtitles on September 5 with Takahata present for the screening. The Kingdom Of Dreams And Madness will premiere on Monday, September 8.
