Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it is Friday! And that can only mean one thing: it’s time to kick back and relax with another dose of nonsensical video from Japan!

Courtesy of our friends over at Niconico, the following video features a collage of clips from 1990s beat-em-up classic Street Fighter II, spliced with, shoehorned into and duct-taped to the theme tune from non other than iconic Japanese animation Doraemon.

It doesn’t make any sense. But then again, does it have to?

As a reference, here’s the original version of the song, sped up for “busy people”:

Cute, no? And here’s what happens when a die-hard Street Fighter II fan gets hold of it. As you watch this, bear the following two questions in mind: “How many hours must have gone into making that?” and, perhaps more importantly, “Why?”

Although this video was originally uploaded back in 2010, it has gradually risen to the top of the Niconico community rankings and has amassed more than 2.2 million views so far, confirming the universal truth that, if there’s one thing that makes a great song better, it’s flamboyantly dressed men and women jumping around and kicking each other’s teeth in.

Have a good weekend, guys!
