sony how to

Jack Tretton, president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America, thrilled gamers today when he declared that the company will not impose any restrictions whatsoever on used games. Suffice it to say, the crowd at E3 went wild.

Seconds after the announcement had been made, a video appeared on Sony’s YouTube channel that simultaneously shows how easy it is to trade games with friends while poking fun at competitor Microsoft. Check it out after the break.

“Sell it to another person, lend it to a friend or keep it forever,” chuckled Tretton as he outlined the company’s stance on used games–a topic that has been hotly debated in recent months and could have meant the end of the used game industry entirely.

The announcement that PlayStation 4 gamers will be able to buy, sell, share and trade their games freely will no doubt come as a huge blow for Microsoft, who recently announced that Xbox One games would be subject to tight controls when it comes to trading games and that players must connect their console to servers at least once every 24 hours–a system that many also expected Sony to implement.

Little did we know that our suspicions that Sony was paying close attention to gamers’ responses to Microsoft’s announcements and formulating a plan of its own were right on the money.

Showing just how easy it is for gamers to trade PlayStation 4 games, Sony released the following video, dubbed the “Official PlayStation Used Game Instructional Video”, which has to be one of the cheekiest corporate moves we’ve ever seen.
