poketunes

If you’re one of the few million people currently eating, sleeping and dreaming about Pikachu and pals following the launch of Pokémon X & Y on Nintendo 3DS, you’ll very likely be wanting something equally poké-themed to listen to while commuting, taking a shower or during especially dull lectures when you can’t get away with playing the game itself.

Well good news! Nintendo, seemingly not content with releasing a special edition album of its 8-bit retro theme songs, has just made the soundtrack to its insanely successful Pokémon X & Y available on iTunes.

That’s right, boys and girls, every track from the game’s epic title-screen music to the whimsically old-school “Cycling” chiptune track can be found on the Pokémon X & Pokémon Y: Super Music Collection over on Apple’s music store. With 212 tracks in total, even if you’re not interested in downloading the lot (and, really, that would be a dizzying amount of poké pop in one go), there’s sure to be something to take your fancy.

According to Game Informer, Nintendo will also be releasing the following Pokémon soundtracks sometime in 2014, though we can’t imagine they’ll be quite as impressive as the current offerings:

Pokémon Fire Red and Pokémon Leaf Green
Pokémon Heart Gold and Pokémon Soul Silver
Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire
Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl
Pokémon Black and Pokémon White
Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2

It’s not exactly something you’d want to entertain dinner guests or a date with any time soon, but the quality of the recordings is surprisingly good, and fans of the series will no doubt love listening to the tunes that accompany what is no doubt already one of their favourites games. If you’re interested, head over to iTunes now and give the album a listen.
