Japan gets all kinds of delicious seasonal and limited-edition treats, so it’s not often that I find myself wishing I lived in one of its neighbouring countries instead. Today, though, I have most definitely been paid a visit by the green-eyed monster, as South Korea’s Pizza Hut has just launched a brand-new pizza with a crust filling that looks so mouthwateringly delicious that I can honestly say I wish I were having lunch in Seoul rather than Tokyo today.

Ladies and gentlemen of the internet, prepare to feel very, very hungry.

Positively loaded with toppings, the new “Star Edge Pizza” is made with a fluffy, tearable dough whose crust is stuffed with cream cheese and chunks of deep-red cranberries to provide each savoury slice with a flourish of sweetness.

The pizza reportedly went on sale in late September, but has this week caused quite a stir online, with gourmands around the globe experiencing definite pangs of pizza envy.

A couple of online commenters have remarked that the combination of savoury toppings and sweet crust sounds rather unpalatable, but as anyone who has ever dolloped a spoonful of apple sauce onto a pork chop or enjoyed a slice of honey-glazed ham will know, there are times when sweet and meat can taste absolutely divine. If cranberry’s really not your thing, though, worry not: Pizza Hut Korea is also offering a cream cheese crust containing chunks of cinnamon-spiced apple, which you can see briefly around the 17-second mark in the following promo video.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to buy a pizza and a can of cranberries to mash into it in a vain attempt to recreate this sadly Korea-only delight.
