PT 1

When I was in junior high school, for a couple of weeks it seemed like whenever the teacher’s back was turned, all the kids in the classroom were engaged in pencil fighting. One combatant would hold his pencil lengthwise, his opponent would try to shatter it with his own, and then they’d switch, taking turns until only one pencil was left intact.

When you stop and think about it, it’s kind of a dumb game. Sure, destruction being a critical component gives it an undeniable appeal. No matter how talented you are though, in the end, you’re just swinging around a writing instrument, and not an awesome foe-cleaving weapon.

Unless, of course, you have one of these cool Legendary Weapon pencil caps.

Made by novelty good manufacturer Kitan Club, the Legendary Weapon series can be purchased in the gachapon toy vending machines you can find in anime stores, video game shops, and just about anywhere else otaku…I mean mighty warriors congregate in Japan. Pop one of these 200-yen (US$1.70) babies on, and instantly turn your number 2 pencil into a +2 (against orcs and undead) pencil.

The six-item armory consist of the Sacred Spear and Legendary Axe (not to be confused with the turboGrafx-16 launch title of the same name)…

PT 2

Darkness-Smiting Hammer and Sky-Clearing Flail

PT 3

…and finally, the Dragon Nunchaku and Cursed Great Scythe, the latter of which sounds more fitting for a dark overlord than a hero, but looks pretty cool nonetheless.

PT 4

Unfortunately, the Legendary Weapons are a completely random drop in the sense that you won’t know which one you’re getting until it literally drops out of the gachapon machine. So if you’re looking for a particular piece to finish your school supply build, make sure you bring enough modern-day platinum pieces (hundred yen coins) to finish the campaign with the loot you need.
