Apparently, the Okinawan branch of oft-despised broadcaster NHK (Nihon Hoso Kyokai or Japan Broadcasting Corporation) had been receiving complaints, starting around 2008, from concerned parents about a morning host who was boasting some exceptionally large assets and making men and teenage boys feel all funny and conflicted while tucking in to their morning cereal.

Former announcer Tomoka Takenaka says viewers would regularly call in to complain about her (Japan size) G-cup breasts, with such gems as, “I can’t concentrate on the news [with those things in my face]!” and “It’s not good for kids to see [huge breasts] first thing in the morning”.

After additional on-set bullying from co-workers, Takenaka decided she’d had enough and called it quits to ironically pursue a career where her endowment would be more appreciated: modeling.

Takenaka says the decision to pose for a photo book and put it on sale nationwide was a difficult one, but that constantly being told by peers and viewers that her breasts were too much of a distraction gave her, apparently, something of a complex about them.

“I was prodded about them a lot at work,” she told weekly magazine the Shuukan Post. “My chest was proving to be a big hurdle to being a newscaster. I decided to try to forge my own path by releasing this photo book.”

She says she stopped short of posing for “gravure” style bikini shots, telling the Shuukan Post that the low-cut tops and mildly suggestive poses of the photo book are – at least currently – “her limit.” This didn’t stop an interviewer at the mag from prodding her, though; the very last question asked (we imagine while the reporter wiped drool from the corner of his mouth) was, “What is your cup size?”

It’s a little strange that Takenaka got so much flak for her chest size, as photos and video from her time at NHK reveal she dressed fairly conservatively when on the air. Nevertheless, she was apparently known locally as “Pineapple Chest” (Okinawa is famous for pineapples – get it?!), and we’re guessing the only thing that could have saved her from constant berating would be to show up to work wearing a nun’s habit. The year is currently 2015.

Anyway, here’s hoping Takenaka gets the respect she deserves in her new role. Also, no, you animals, for legal reasons we don’t have any photos from the book the show you, but here’s a moderately sexy video of Takenaka doing, uh… something.

And, oh wow, who knows what’s going on here:
