Tokyo Disneyland is a popular destination at any time of the year, but when the holiday season approaches, the theme park swells with visitors keen to get in on the festive spirit.

One of the highlights of the season is the “Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dream Lights”, where a number of well-known Disney characters appear on large floats dressed up in spectacular light displays. Accompanied by music, the scene is also accompanied by huge crowds, eager to receive a wave from the likes of Mickey, Snow White or even Woody from Toy Story.

Now there’s a fun way to avoid the crowds and enjoy the illuminated parade from the comfort of your own home. It’s called the “Sync! Illumination” and it lets you link up with your friends’ cellphone screens to create an awesome interactive show.

The special animated display can be accessed from the official website until Christmas Day. Compatible with iPhone and Android devices, there’s an option to either enjoy the parade on a single device, or watch it across multiple screens. To see exactly how it works, check out the short video below.

To view the show with friends, simply enter the group ID number once received from the website, line your phones up next to each other and press start.

The parade opens with the Blue Fairy, just as it does during the real-life performance. Eleven floats appear in total, including Peter Pan’s impressive pirate ship and an enormous illuminated Genie from Disney’s 1992 animated feature film, Aladdin. Be sure to turn the volume up on all phones so you can enjoy the special Christmas version of the Electrical Parade Dream Lights musical accompaniment!

▼ As an added feature, if you tap on a float, you’ll be able to hear special character voices!
