The Video Game Awards producer Geoff Keighley stated during the award ceremony on Thursday in Los Angeles that Metal Gear Solid series creator Hideo Kojima did not attend the ceremony because a lawyer representing Konami had informed Kojima that he “would not be allowed” to attend. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain also won a Platinum Prize at the PlayStation Awards 2015 ceremony in Tokyo earlier on Thursday. Kojima previously stated that he will consider Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain as the lastMetal Gear Solid title. However, Konami UK Community Manager Graham Day stated in an interview in September that “the Metal Gear brand will continue,” even without Kojima.
