Yes, there really is a cat hiding somewhere in this picture.

People in Japan came across an optical illusion online recently, and within days it became a trending topic on Twitter. The image, which was originally posted to Reddit several days ago by a user overseas, depicts a tranquil forest scene with piles of cut logs in the foreground, and somewhere within the image is a cat. After appearing online at the beginning of August, Twitter user @kuroicc shared the image with people in Japan, saying it took him about ten minutes to find the cat in the photo, and since then, everyone’s been looking for kitty, with varying degrees of success.

If you can’t find the feline, don’t worry; many others online have been having a hard time locating it too, with some people seeing ghost-like apparitions in the trees and eyes peering out from the shadows. If you’re looking for a hint, the cat is not intentionally hiding behind something as you might expect. What makes the optical illusion even more fascinating is the fact that the cat is actually in full view.

If you’re still searching and don’t want any spoilers, look away now!

“Where the heck is it?”
