Stay back, ma’am. Let someone with a fire flower or invincibility star handle this.

Mario may be popping up in all sort of unexpected places nowadays, like at the closing of the Rio Olympics, but it seems like he’s not the only member of the Mushroom Kingdom to make a surprise appearance in our world.

Japanese Twitter user @dokurogunsou recently posted this picture:

“Something’s a little off with the plants at my friend’s house….”

Yikes! It looks like the invasion has already begun with Mario 3 piranha plants. Luckily it only looks like one of them is of the fireball-spitting variety, but either way now’s the time to start taking precautions.

▼ Get your Kuribo’s Shoes ready!
You don’t want to be caught stomping on them in bare feet.

Here’s how Japanese netizens reacted to the fearsome flora:

“I hate gardening but I’d love to have plants like that.”
“Just wait for them to go down the pipes so you can get past them.”
“So this is augmented reality….”
“How do people make such cool things out of beads? All I ever make is a mess.”
“Uh, do you die if you touch them?”

▼ At least one Mario found out the answer the hard way.

We do have to say, though, if a Nintendo franchise does have to come to life and wreak havoc on our world, we’re definitely glad it’s Mario 3, because Majora’s Mask coming to life in China was terrifying.
