The Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen singer was surprised by his popularity in the US, with kids, artists and famous celebrities all wanting a photo with him.

Comedian Kosaka Daimaou took the world by storm last year when his hilarious stage persona, Piko Taro, became famous for the viral video hit Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen. Since then, he’s been no stranger to the showbiz world, rubbing shoulders with international celebrities like Justin Bieber, Sting, and even Elmo and Cookie Monster from Sesame Street, but when it was announced that the Japanese singer would be travelling to Los Angeles for the 59th Grammy Awards, even he was surprised to find out he’d been invited to such an illustrious event.

Kosaka Daimaou posted this picture of himself, sans wig and leopard print on the plane, saying, “This is not a joke…I’m really writing this…I can’t believe it but…I’m heading to L.A. for the Grammys.

Once he arrived at the venue, the comedian was touched by all the attention he received, saying, “Around the Grammys venue, kids, grannies and grandpas…all know Piko-chan??!!” He signed off the tweet with tears of happiness, shocked face emojis and love hearts to express his emotional response to the unexpected welcome.

Daimaou also shared this short video, showing the love Piko Taro received from the kids, commenting on how cute they all were, especially the girl who couldn’t stop clinging to him!

Later on, he received an equally warm response from celebrities and artists on the red carpet.

At the Grammy’s, Piko Taro walked down the red carpet dashingly. What was amazing was the huge number of artists and guests who came to take photos of him…it would’ve been about 150 people! Bruno’s Prince was unreal!

Bruno Mars wasn’t the only artist who took Piko Taro’s breath away during the proceedings. The singer also shared photos of Jennifer Lopez, Daft Punk and the Weeknd, Metallica and Lady Gaga on his Twitter account. After the ceremony, Piko Taro gushed over Adele several times during an interview with Japanese broadcaster WOWOW.

Now that he’s had a taste of L.A. celebrity life, we have a feeling it won’t be long before Piko Taro visits the City of Angels again!

Maybe next time he’ll be able to venture out further to explore the rest of the United States. And hopefully by then he’ll have a new hit to promote too!
