They’re at it again, combining modern design with traditional wear, creating even more amazing looks for spring.

Wazigen Shizukuya, the Kyoto-based fashion brand that has been reviving traditional Japanese men’s wear with modern design and colors, has just introduced their newest line of samurai-inspired fashion in their 2017 spring collection. The line-up includes 13 different looks, with hakama pants, short-sleeved kimono kosode, and various shawls, hoods, and accessories to compliment each outfit.

▼ This particular look uses subtle earth tones with its two-tone kosode and camouflage-patterned hakama, made of 100-percent cotton.
The set can be purchased for 60,000 yen (US$527.95) plus tax. The obsidian bead necklace is available separately for 6,000 yen.

For those looking for something with a little more color, this two-tone kosode contrasts light beige with dark navy blue, and adds in a splash of bright green with the collar. The hakama features subtle flower and stripe patterns on a darker beige cotton-polyester blend. This set also sells for 60,000 yen, with the wood and turquoise necklace for an additional 9,000 yen.

To give the look an extra dimension, Wazigen Shizukuya has also introduced a “wazi-hasode shawl to coordinate with the above outfit. The outer side of the shawl is a plain dark navy color to compliment the kosode, while the underside has a fun pattern featuring Japanese fairy tale characters like Issun Bōshi and Hanasaka Jijii. The shawl retails for 70,000 yen.

This wazi-hasode (70,000 yen) will add a fun modern twist to any neutral-colored outfit, with its black-and-white checkered pattern wool exterior, and 100-percent cotton beige-colored inner lining.

The next look pairs a charcoal grey parka hood with silver criss-cross accents over a light grey and black kosode and dark camouflage hakama. While not necessary to the outfit, the parka helps tie the look together and really gives it that modern feel. The kosode and hakama set sells for 60,000 yen, and the parka for an additional 50,000 yen.
