Kanagawa-based brewery Sankt Gallen has been turning heads with their unique brands of chocolate beers. Released on 10 January, these beers provide a welcome change to the typical chocolate gifts of Valentine’s Day (generally, guys aren’t really that into pure chocolate).

But it appears that Sankt Gallen has raised the stakes more with their new combo set of a 330 mL bottle of their Imperial Chocolate Stout, complete with an edible glass made entirely of chocolate.

This may have been a response to comments, including our own reporter’s, that the ultra-dark beer is a little too bitter. It’s made with over twice the ingredients of your average dark beer including roasted “chocolate malt.”

It’s conceivable that the chocolate glass could act as a sweetener to the stout, but it’s hard to say for sure. At the very least, you could taketh a bite from thyne chocolate chalice as you drink to mellow out the bitterness.

It goes on sale from 1 February from the Sankt Gallen online store and various stores across Japan.

The chocolate cup is safe and specially designed to melt and dissolve in your mouth, not in your hand. However, the brewery would like to remind everyone this season: Friends don’t let friends drink chocolate beer from a chocolate cup and drive.
