Looking for something to do on Halloween? Ever wish you were one of the undead masses lumbering around the planet with a grudge long after you died? Get a thrill scaring the pee out of others? Well then you better get to Yamanashi Prefecture’s Fuji-Q Highland Amusement Park this month!

While the Fuji-Q Highland Amusement Park may be best know for its extreme roller coaster rides, that doesn’t mean they don’t know how to have fun once it starts to get dark out. The amusement park is currently holding a special event that takes place every weekend until October 26 (excluding the 12th and 13th) in which a group of lucky customers get to play the part of the ghosts!

While some may prefer to be on the “getting scared” end of things, there are those of us with a bit more schadenfreuder in our veins. So if you’re one of the folks who cheers for Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th or the little creepy boy in Ju-on, you will want to be at Fuji-Q one of these weekends.

As part of their “Super Scary Hair-Raising Labyrinth,” the amusement park is recruiting ghosts directly from the ranks of their customers. After receiving costumes for the night and some impressive makeup, the ghost’s job is to wander around giving people a fright.

But that’s not all! There’s also a few good guys on the loose, running around trying to stop the ghosts. And who would they be? Fuji-Q’s own superhero team–the Screaming Highlander Squadron. Hmm…our money’s on the ghosts winning this battle.

If you’re serious about ghosting up, you’ll need to become a member of “Club FujiQ” (Japanese only) and then go to the ticket window on the day of your choice and tell them you want to be a ghost. Arrive early though–they only have 30 openings!

Those who participate as ghosts, in addition to having a frightfully good time, will also get a free pass to the park as a present. Not a bad deal if you ask us!

Japanese netizens shared their thoughts on the event:

Oh, this is great! We might be able to wear some cool makeup and chase around cute girls!

I don’t mind just playing the role of the pervert.

Recruitment? They’re…recruiting for ghosts? Hmm…I bet a bunch of missing people will suddenly start appearing.

Oh, I bet a bunch of you guys could do this just fine without makeup.

I am thinking that it’s scarier being a ghost…

This would be the only place you’d end up seeing a real ghost.

They’re so stingy! Why don’t they just hire some part-time workers!

Oh, come on, this sounds fun! Some people ruin everything. Hmmm…well, this sounds like the perfect job for Mr. Sato!
