On July 11 this year, the video game industry lost a very important and much loved figure when Nintendo‘s president Satoru Iwata passed away suddenly. For the past two months, the Kyoto-based company has been in the process of finding a worthy successor to head the company going forward—no mean feat when one considers the size of the shoes Mr. Iwata left behind.

But now, without further ado, we introduce to you the next president of the world-renown gaming company!

At around 3pm today, Nintendo stated via its official Twitter account that it had published a notification regarding the change of its representative director, with a link directing to the download page for a .pdf document.

The first page of the announcement reads:

(1)Reason for the change

To attempt to strengthen and perfect the management structure following the death of company president (representative director) Satoru Iwata on July 11, 2015, along with large-scale restructuring on September 16, 2015.

The box below then announces the name of their next president…

Tatsumi Kimishima, former managing director, chief of administrative headquarters and general manager, and head of human resources at the company, will now fill Mr. Iwata’s shoes as the new president and representative director of Nintendo.

Screen Shot 2015-09-14 at 14.55.17Kimishima began working as a board member for Nintendo of America in 2002, but before joining the company he worked as the representative director for Pokémon Co., Ltd. At 65 years of age, Mr. Kimishima already has a few years on Mr. Iwata when he passed, but with over a decade of experience working at Nintendo, we’re sure he’s a worthy candidate for the job.

The question that now remains is, will Mr. Kimishima also be the new face of forthcoming Nintendo Direct announcement broadcasts?
