Strange cosmic events, sketchy writing on an arm and tears are all fodder for scary movies.
If you haven’t heard already, Makoto Shinkai’s newest animated motion picture, Your Name. (Kimi no Na Wa), is dominating the Japanese box office and the international fans are anxiously awaiting the release of the movie. Your Name. is generally described as a science-fiction fantasy film, but there is plenty of drama and romance too. Still, isn’t it funny how all the elements of this feel-good movie can be tweaked slightly and get turned into a fabulous horror movie?
This isn’t the first time Nobu has transformed our favorite anime movies into something that would be a better fit for a Kayako or Sadako flick. The slightly darkened scenes, the frantic movements of the characters, the sharp cuts and jarring music all create a terribly horrific atmosphere.
We imagine that this darker, spookier version of the movie would be just as big of a hit with audiences. Luckily, if you’re not into scary films, the version that is playing on screens now is plenty of wholesome fun. Be sure to watch Your Name. when it comes to a theater near you and enjoy this different take on what is already being hailed as a cinematic classic.
